How Do I Become A Volunteer?

Hospice volunteers receive training and on-going education to assist with the specialized support they offer to patients, family members and caregivers.

General hospice education covers:

  • Philosophy of hospice care and services offered
  • Physical, emotional, social and spiritual issues encountered
  • Effective communication, comfort care and the dying process
  • Information about grief and loss

In order to become a volunteer, the following should be acceptable:

  • Able to commit to the recommended training and application process
  • Able to provide own transportation
  • Are at least 18 years of age
  • Do not have a criminal record
  • TB test must be negative
